Tax Lawyer/ Tax Technician

Requirements:

• Ability read, speak and write technical and business English. Self motivated and work alone. Excellent understanding and ability to use Word and online research tools, provided by the firm.
• Have a legal background holding a law degree or above and an understanding of Common and Civil law systems. With a focus on taxation law.
• Ability to research UK and international tax legislation including case law.
• Provide tax technical support to the firm,
• Focus on the following industries:
  • UK Property Taxation and structures.
  • IT and Telecommunication
  • e-commerce — Internet trading
  • Taxation of Financial instruments and products.
  • Manufacturing [research and development tax credits, capital allowances ]
  • UK and International Inheritance tax.
  • UK Dispute resolutions in taxation.
  • UK and International Trust and estates Law.
  • UK and international Personal tax, capital gains,
  • Oil, Gas and alternative energy .
• The ability to developer solutions and ideas that can be modded and passed on to clients.
• Understanding and interpreting:
  • international tax treaties.
  • investment treaties
  • inheritance tax treaties,
  • international trade agreements as relating to taxation.

Responsibilities:

• Build a virtual library that can be accessed by other staff (this is a preferable but not essential condition)
• Provide monthly update and online training to staff.
• Legislation watching and provide updates for distribution to clients and staff that would enable the firm to update existing structures and or advice.
• Create a monthly news letter for the firm on taxation for distribution to clients and potential clients under the direction of the Marketing department.
